Royal Octavo First Edition
1840 - 1844

Offered here are very fine stone lithographs with original hand coloring from the First Royal Octavo Edition of America`s most famous artistic series on birds - John James Audubon`s Birds of America. The lithography and coloring were by J.T. Bowen - the finest lithographer and colorist of the period. It was published in Philadelphia & New York, 1840-44.

These are original 160+ year old examples from Audubon`s lifetime. They measure about 10.5 x 6.5 inches. These are excellent examples of historical ornithological renderings and offer a unique and rare opportunity to own a piece of American history and art!
